Reopening Doors

Sunday Schools in Pakistan
begin to reopen

“And let us not grown weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Galatians: 6:9

After the CFAM Pakistan team meet to discuss the reopening of Sunday School programs, it was decided that on 20th of September 2020 the team would go to Shiekhupura to reopen Sunday School activities following the Government of Pakistan Covid-19 SOP’s (Mask), Social Distancing, Hand washing /Hand sanitizing). To travel there the team arranged to meet at patherwali District Nankana sahib. With recent incidents on the highways in the area the team was traveling, one of which a mother was raped and her two children were beaten. The program coordinator, Waseem, discussed his concern about the transportation of teachers to the Sunday Schools and requested the team to arrange safe transportation for the teachers. With safe transportation arranged the team safely reached their destination at noon on the 20th of September.

Sunday School Program

To keep the teachers and students happy and safe in this time of COVID CFAMP team arranged the necessary items:
1. Face masks
2. Hand sanitizers
3. Refreshments

After prayer and introductions, teachers were given instructions and demonstrations on proper hand sanitization and mask wearing for themselves, the teachers were also taught how to help their students with hand sanitizer and masks and how to socially distance when they were sitting. Teachers were instructed to strictly monitor student attendance and record numbers of students.

After the teachers received their instruction, by the grace of God, the team taught the first Sunday School lesson in last five months. The teachers and children were very thankful for the time spent together learning about the love of Jesus and grateful to the CRAM Pakistan team.

Teachers:

Teachers were paid and signed the contract letters for the next six months of teaching, allowing the team to run the program smoothly.

Conclusion:

Teachers and students were very happy to reopen the school. Teachers reported that due to a gap of 5 months many children forgot their lessons, but they are doing their best to review and remember the previous lessons.

Request:

Garmula center teacher Miss Ribca Abid said that her Church floor is made of mud so she brought bed sheets from home for children to sit on. They don’t have enough budget to make a floor so she requested to help our church floor to be cemented.

After a busy day by the grace of God we safely reached head office at 09:30pm.
