In Sargodha City, Pakistan, a violent mob attacked a Christian man, vandalized his home, and set properties on fire on Saturday, accusing him of blasphemy, according to local media reports. This incident highlights the precarious situation faced by the Christian community in Pakistan, who regularly endure threats of persecution and violence.
Following allegations that a Christian man had burned the Quran, an enraged mob surrounded the homes of Christian residents in Sargodha. The mob brutally beat the man, resulting in severe injuries and significant property damage.
Despite the presence of numerous police officials, the mob’s aggression did not abate. They brutally attacked Nazir Masih, who was accused of burning the Quran and lost his life. They even vandalized the ambulance meant to transport him to the hospital, reflecting their intense anger and disregard for human life.
The incident left properties damaged and forced many residents to flee their homes. The displaced community members urgently need essentials such as water, assistance with temporary relocations, and other forms of support until peace is restored.
Christ for All Ministry Pakistan will be visiting these families, many of whom left their homes and towns to save their lives. We will support them according to their needs. This incident is reminiscent of a similar one in Jaranwala last August, where a mob of thousands of religiously provoked Muslims set around 26 churches and 250 homes on fire and threatened the lives of the Christians residing there.
We ask for prayers for Nazir Masih, his family, and the entire Christian community in Sargodha. Please pray for their safety, healing, and strength during this difficult time. We also pray for peace and reconciliation in the region.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 5:10.
